What is wedding stationery?

Wedding stationery includes everything from wedding invitations to thank you cards. The first place to start is your Save the Dates. Save the Date cards give your guests the date of your wedding, the overall style and theme, and sometimes the location. This is the first part of your wedding that your guests will see!

Wedding invitations include much more detail than the Save the Date cards. The invites communicate all the vital details of your wedding such as the location of your ceremony and reception, the start time and instructions on how to RSVP (details you don’t want to miss!).

Wedding stationery doesn’t just stop there! It means so much more than this, it carries on throughout your whole wedding day! Which can include name placements, table plan, table names or numbers, thank you tags, order of service, menu cards. All these items give your guests information they need to know and give your day the ease it needs!

How do I find a wedding stationer and how do I know if I will like their style?

There are lots of ways to find a wedding stationer, Google, Instagram, venue supplier recommendations, wedding fairs and word of mouth. "Finding the right wedding stationer is key to making your day bespoke and personal to you." says Lauren. Make sure you like the style of stationery that they supply by looking at their social media accounts, meeting them in person or at a wedding fair. You can also simply ask for a sample of their work to be sent to you, Lauren suggests.

What style should I go for?

Lauren recommends "Choosing your style if key for your wedding and key for choosing the right wedding stationer for you! If you are after something chic, simple and elegant you aren’t going to go for someone who uses bold colours with lots of added detail. Think about where you’re getting married and your personal tastes on colour and style with will help you choose your style. Also Pinterest! I love it! Making mood boards for different styled and colours can really help with inspiration when choosing your style for your wedding day."

When do I need to send out my save the dates and invitations?

"I’m not sure there is a right and wrong answer to this question!" says Lauren "However, if my couples are getting married local to them and not in holiday season, I tell them for save the dates 11-12 months prior to their wedding date and for invitations 8-9 months before. If they are getting married aboard, I suggest sending out save the dates 12-14 months before the big day and invitations 9-10 months. I do this because I feel it gives people time to book off holiday with work and if needed to book flights and accommodation. "
